The International Academy of Medical Specialists, Inc. (IAMS) proudly announces that its 3rd World Congress will be held on October 7–8, 2025, at the UC Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California, USA. This milestone event reflects IAMS’s commitment to advancing medical knowledge and fostering global collaboration among Filipino and international medical professionals.
Background and Collaboration
The foundation of this congress was laid in February 2025, when a group of U.S.-based Filipino doctors led by Dr. Luz Dia Guerrero conducted a series of medical missions across the Philippines. During these missions, discussions between Dr. Guerrero and Dr. Albert G. Gironella, President of IAMS, explored the possibility of hosting the IAMS 3rd World Congress in the United States.
Following these discussions, Dr. Guerrero invited the IAMS leadership to UC Davis School of Medicine, where she is affiliated as Medical Director of the Bayanihan Clinic, to explore this opportunity further.
On April 7, 2025, Dr. Albert G. Gironella and a delegation from IAMS visited UC Davis to formally present the proposal to host the World Congress. They were welcomed by Dr. Guerrero and Dr. Herman Hedriana, Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Chief of Obstetrics at UC Davis Health. Their shared vision of strengthening global healthcare partnerships led to months of coordination and collaboration.
In June 2025, the UC Davis School of Medicine officially approved the proposal — confirming that the IAMS 3rd World Congress will take place at their Sacramento campus. This partnership marks a pivotal moment in IAMS history, signifying a strengthened alliance between Filipino healthcare professionals and international academic institutions.
